Hip hop autotune with uad anteres7/31/2023 ![]() ![]() (By subpar I mean my vocals didn’t sound as musical they sounded tone-deaf, which is how I sound without Auto-Tune □□□). I wonder if my results were subpar-when I tried the method he suggested-because of the specific Auto-Tune version I use. ![]() ![]() (There’s also the issue of compression sometimes restoring lower frequencies, therefore needs another “rumble cut”). I found resources online to back further back up this claim. He explained that Auto-Tune adds frequencies (or harmonics-I forget which, but I do agree) and that not cutting out the rumble below 200 can throw things outta whack because then Auto-Tune reacts to useless sonic info. (Note: I use Auto-Tune Access, the cheapest and most restricted version.) ![]() When I tried the suggested approach, I thought the Auto-Tune didn’t sound as good. He looked at my (general) vocal chain and said I should have EQ (cut up to 200) and compression BEFORE Auto-Tune. Recently I was speaking to an engineer who’s worked with some big names. Hi all - based on research online I was led to believe Auto-Tune should be at the top of the vocal chain, then other processes (subtractive EQ, compression, etc). ![]()
